I use notebooks heavily, and I agree that they have problems, but the tool isn't the problem, it's actually the coder's responsibility to ensure they code they write is clean and modularized.

Having said that, there a lot that can be automated to ensure notebooks are modularized and tested, we're doing that at Ploomber and dozens of companies already use it in production :) https://github.com/ploomber/ploomber
